Emergency First Aid at Work

Description
The course aims to teach participants basic aspects of dealing with emergencies, with an emphasis on those occurring in the workplace. Handling ‘Life Threatening’ situations are covered as well as recognising and responding to some of the more common ailments that may be encountered in the workplace. Giving essential lifesaving skills to deal with an incident until professional help arrives.
Course Aims
To demonstrate the essential basic life support skills. We encourage participants to take an active role in the practical acquisition of these skills. We believe this approach helps participants build their confidence, gain practical experience and further their knowledge to be able to deal with an incident.
Objectives
On completion of the course the participants will be able to:
- Prioritise injuries and conditions
- Deal with the unconscious casualty
- Perform effective CPR
- Control bleeding and shock
- Gain awareness of incident management
Qualification
On completion of the course, participants will receive an ‘Emergency First Aid at Work’ Certificate which is valid for 3 years.
Suitability
The course is ideal for people who do not require a fully certificated First Aid qualification but who feel that a basic knowledge in the subject would be useful in their role. It would also benefit large companies or organisations who wish all their employees to have first aid knowledge. Smaller workforces, such as shops and offices.

Description
Designed to meet the HSE Regulations of First Aid at Work. This course covers all aspects of that may occur in the workplace.
Course Aims
The course aims to train employees up to the standard required by the Health & Safety Executive for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Objectives
The participants will be able to successfully achieve the criteria required for:
- Verbal examination
- Practical examination
Qualification
On completion of the course, participants will be assessed in practical and theory aspects of First Aid to the HSE approved standard. Successful completion of the assessment will result in the award of a ‘First Aid at Work’ Certificate. This will be valid for a period of three years and should be renewed by attendance on a two day re-validation course before the expiry of the certificate. Attendance on a three day First Aid at Work course will be necessary if validity has elapsed.
Suitability
This comprehensive course is suitable for companies that require their staff to be fully First Aid trained to fulfil the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive Regulations.

Course Aims

Advanced Life Support

Description
This course is designed for participants who require an in depth knowledge of advanced life support techniques and to further enhance existing skills to a higher level to include oxygen therapy, total body immobilising and identifying / examination of symptoms.
Course Aims
Participants will be familiar with using and setting up specialised equipment safely and correctly.
Objectives
The participants will be able to
- Set up specialised equipment correctly
- Examination and identification of injuries & illnesses
- The importance of personal hygiene
- Use vital signs charts
- Deal with cardiovascular / respiratory diseases
- Environmental injuries
Assessment
Will be by observation of practical skills and written assessment
Qualification
On completion of the course, participants will receive an ‘Advance Life Support’ Certificate which is valid for 3 years.
